Encodes a protein containing Dof zinc finger motifs that is a positive regulator of light-mediated seed germination. Its expression is limited to vascular system of the mother plant. A recessive mutation is inherited as maternal-effect and expression is not detected in the embryo. Mutants are defective in seed germination and are more dependent on light and cold treatment and less sensitive to gibberellin during seed germination. It plays its main role downstream of PIL5 and DAG1 in the phytochrome B (phyB)-mediated pathway.
