Encodes a highly polar protein with more than 60% hydrophilic amino acid residues that is associated with the plasma membrane. It has limited secondary structure similarity to VAP-33 from Aplysia, which may be involved in membrane trafficking. The mRNA is cell-to-cell mobile.
