SmD1b is one of two Yeast SmD1 orthologs, the other being SmD1a.SmD1b accumulates to higher levels than SmD1a.It is localized to the nucleolus and nuclear speckles and appears to have a role in RNA splicing and indirectly facilitating PTGS.
