ATI3A interacting protein containing a large N-terminal rhomboid-like transmembrane domain and a UBA domain at their C terminus, localized in the ER with an important role in plant heat tolerance. UBAC2 proteins may act as both cargo receptors and inducers of an ATI3-mediated selective autophagy pathway, where ATI3 and UBAC2 proteins are delivered to the vacuole under ER stress in an autophagy-dependent manner.
