Search our database by keyword

Examples

  • Search this entire website. Enter identifiers, names or keywords for genes, pathways, authors, ontology terms, etc. (e.g. eve, embryo, zen, allele)
  • Use OR to search for either of two terms (e.g. fly OR drosophila) or quotation marks to search for phrases (e.g. "dna binding").
  • Boolean search syntax is supported: e.g. dros* for partial matches or fly AND NOT embryo to exclude a term

Organism . Short Name: A. thaliana
TAIR Computational Description: aldehyde dehydrogenase 10A9;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: ALDH10A9 encodes a protein that can function as a betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase in vitro. The C-terminal amino acids of this protein direct GFP to the peroxisome suggesting that ALDH10A9 accumulates in this organelle. ALDH10A9 transcript levels rise in response to ABA, NaCl, chilling, methyl viologen, and dehydration stress. The enzyme can catalyze the formation of glycine betaine in vitro, but there are still questions about whether Arabidopsis makes this protective compound under natural conditions. This enzyme may be involved in oxidizing aminoaldehydes formed through polyamine metabolism.
TAIR Short Description: aldehyde dehydrogenase 10A9
TAIR Aliases: ALDH10A9, BADH
