Organism . Name: Arabidopsis thaliana
Length: 51
Ontology Term
Description: Protein which binds at least one S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM), or protein whose function is SAM-dependent. S-adenosyl-L-methionine, a conjugate of the nucleotide adenosine and the amino acid methionine, is a substrate/cofactor in numerous enzyme-catalyzed reactions Enzymatic reactions that involve interactions of proteins with S- adenosyl-L-methionine include transfer of methyl, thiomethyl, aminoalkyl and adenosyl groups. It not only provides methyl groups to be transferred in numerous biological reactions, but also acts as a precursor in the biosynthesis of polyamines and metal ion chelating compounds. It is also a source of catalytic 5'-deoxyadenosyl radicals produced as reaction intermediates by a superfamily of radical enzymes. It is also involved in decarboxylation reactions

TAIR Computational Description: UDP-Glycosyltransferase superfamily protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: UGT72E2 is an UDPG:coniferyl alcohol glucosyltransferase which glucosylates sinapyl- and coniferyl aldehydes as well as sinapyl- and coniferyl alcohol. The enzyme is thought to be involved in lignin metabolism. A knockdown mutant line (72E2KD) was obtained using RNAi silencing. A twofold reduction in coniferyl alcohol 4-O-glucoside and sinapyl alcohol 4-O-glucoside was detected in this line compared to wildtype. In comparison, both knockout and knockdown lines of UGT72E1 and UGT72E3, respectively, failed to display the same reduction in phenylpropanoid 4-O-glucosides. The mRNA is cell-to-cell mobile.

TAIR Computational Description: tornado 1;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Encodes a large plant-specific protein of unknown function, with conserved domains also found in a variety of signaling proteins, In trn mutants, the leaf venation network had a severely reduced complexity: incomplete loops, no tertiary or quaternary veins, and vascular islands. The leaf laminas were asymmetric and narrow because of a severely reduced cell number. TRN1 is required for the maintenance of both the radial pattern of tissue differentiation in the root and for the subsequent circumferential pattern within the epidermis. Double mutant analysis showed that TRN1 and TRN2 act in the same pathway.

TAIR Computational Description: D6 protein kinase;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Member of AGC VIIIa Kinase family. D6PK is a protein kinase involved that plays a role in polar auxin transport. Most likely acts redundantly with the related proteins: D6PKL1,D6PKL2,and D6PKL3. PIN1 is a target of D6PK phosphorylation. D6PK is associated with sterol enriched membrane rafts and may be involved in regulation of the switch from basal to planar polarity during root hair initiation. Involved in pulse-induced phototropism but also for time-dependent second positive phototropism. Works with PIN3 in the same genetic pathway of hypocotyl phototropism under all light conditions. Involved in the generation of auxin asymmetrical distribution induced by phototropic stimulation.

TAIR Computational Description: Aminotransferase-like, plant mobile domain family protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Encodes a nuclear localized aminotransferase like protein containing a plant mobile domain. MAIL1 is expressed in the root, SAM, leaves, flowers and embryo. Loss of function mutations display defects in root and shoot growth. In the root, primary root growth terminates early. In the shoot, leaf development is delayed, and lateral organs are smaller than normal. MAIL1 appears to affect meristem cell division and cell fate. Biochemical analysis of the mutants also demonstrates silencing defects. Based on epistasis analysis, this MAIN1 acts in a different pathway than DNA methylation, and siRNA and in the same pathway as MAIL1 and PP7L.

TAIR Computational Description: ARM repeat superfamily protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Encodes a nuclear cap-binding protein that forms a heterodimeric complex with CBP20 and is involved in ABA signaling and flowering. Mutants are early flowering and exhibit hypersensitive response to ABA in germination inhibition.Loss of ABH1 function results in abnormal processing of mRNAs for several important floral regulators (FLC, CO, FLM). Analysis of loss of function mutations suggests a role in pri-miRNA processing and mRNA splicing. Note that two different mutant alleles were given the same name abh1-7 (Kuhn et al 2007; Kim et al 2008). To avoid confusion, abh1-7 described in Kim et al (2008) has been renamed abh1-107 (other names: ensalada-1, ens-1).

TAIR Computational Description: hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase 1;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Encodes a hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase HSD1. Two copies of HSD1 (At5g50600 and At5g50700) exist in the Arabidopsis genome as a result of an exact 33-kb duplication on chromosome 5 encompassing seven genes. There are five homologs of HSD1 in Arabidopsis (HSD2-At3g47350, HSD3-At3g47360, HSD4-At5g50590, HSD4-At5g50690 and HSD6-At5g50770; HSD4 has two copies due to the same gene duplication event occurred to HSD1) (Plant Cell Physiology 50:1463). At5g50690 is also named as HSD7 (Plant Physiology 145:87). HSD1 is identified from the proteome of oil bodies from mature seeds. Transcription of HSD1 is specifically and highly induced in oil-accumulating tissues of mature seeds; transcript disappears during germination.

TAIR Computational Description: Cyclic nucleotide-regulated ion channel family protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: 'defense, no death' gene (DND1) encodes a mutated cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel; Same as CNGC2 (article ID 229): Cyclic nucleotide gated channel, activated by cAMP, conducts K+ and other monovalent cations but excludes Na+, does not contain the GYG amino acid sequence found in other channels with this conductivity profile. Conducts Ca2+ into cells which is linked to the generation of NO and the NO signaling pathway involved in the innate immune response to pathogens. CNGC2 could be the key step mediating bulk Ca2+ influx into leaf cells after unloading from the vascular and have no direct roles in the leaf development and HR.
