Encodes the catalytic core of the dolichol phosphate mannase synthase (DPMS) complex. It is not active on its own but requires the presence of DPMS2 and DPMS3 for full activity. It is localized in the ER and mediates isoprenyl-linked glycan biogenesis, influences development, stress response, and ammonium hypersensitivity.
