Search our database by keyword

Examples

  • Search this entire website. Enter identifiers, names or keywords for genes, pathways, authors, ontology terms, etc. (e.g. eve, embryo, zen, allele)
  • Use OR to search for either of two terms (e.g. fly OR drosophila) or quotation marks to search for phrases (e.g. "dna binding").
  • Boolean search syntax is supported: e.g. dros* for partial matches or fly AND NOT embryo to exclude a term

Organism . Short Name: A. thaliana
TAIR Computational Description: arginine decarboxylase 1;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary: Encodes a arginine decarboxylase (ADC), a rate-limiting enzyme that catalyzes the first step of polyamine (PA) biosynthesis via ADC pathway in Arabidopsis thaliana. Arabidopsis genome has two ADC paralogs, ADC1 and ADC2. Double mutant analysis showed that ADC genes are essential for the production of PA, and are required for normal seed development. Promoter region of ADC1 contains 742-bp AT-rich transposable element, called AtATE, that belongs to the MITE families of repetitive elements.
TAIR Short Description: arginine decarboxylase 1
TAIR Aliases: ADC1, ARGDC, ARGDC1, AtADC1, SPE1
