Encodes a di- and tri-peptide transporter that recognizes a variety of different amino acid combinations. Expression of the transcripts for this gene can be detected in the embryo through in situ hybridization. This protein does not have nitrate transporter activity based on oocyte transport assays. Enhances water uptake during early seed germination.
